The Welcoming West
I joined the Lone Star team in January 2024. During my first summer, a 45 mph tornado struck Pilot Point, TX, causing significant property damage to the lodge, guest rooms and the newly built marina. As cleanup and restoration efforts went underway, the owners saw this as an opportunity to refresh the property’s identity. After a promotion to Social Media Manager, my first major task was to lead the rebranding initiative, laying the foundation for a bold, renewed vision for this rustic venue.
Color Palette + Typography
Lone Star’s palette of Bluebonnet, Driftwood, and Texas Red was chosen to reflect the brand’s deep connection to Texas pride—straightforward yet rich with heritage. Bluebonnet and Texas Red echo the colors of the Texas flag, reinforcing a sense of state pride and familiarity. Driftwood balances the boldness of the red and blue, providing a neutral foundation that maintains visual harmony. The combination of Sans Serif, Serif, and Script fonts creates a balanced yet dynamic feel. Rockwell Bold adds a sense of strength and tradition, Franklin Gothic brings modern clarity and professionalism, while Livermore Script introduces a personal, approachable touch. This combination reflects the brand’s personality—grounded in heritage, yet modern and welcoming.
